I wholeheartedly agree. Youth must rise to the occasion. To re-state: their main goals are to implement that "liberty and abundance" that the founders gave us. Tough stuff What were the founders building with? - The printing press - Legal patent protection (private property) - The township town meeting - The frontier - Rule of law - States - Migration - Much more What are you building with? - The new visual media - Creative commons copyright - New tribes including social-networking, social-marketing and open-source development - Combining see-it learn-it do-it be-it - Combining old separations (7 social functions) - Dividing old divisions (divisions of labor) - Self-help, local-sustainability, wiki, ratings, mini-factories and micro-fabbing - Rule of precedent and mitigation - Markets (viral and layered) - Global reach and the integral global-feudalism of the nations - much more We've got to revive the some of the old in the new context and add the new by fulfilling the wisdom of the past. Each one of his talks is very relevant to our times. He is also going to co-present during one session with Janeen Dell'Acqua, a long-time proponent of leadership education, but one with a different worldview than most practitioners of TJEd. Repeated times he assured me (a stressed out mom of 5 at the time) that I could do it and that it would be so worth it. On one particular occasion he promised me, "If you dig in and get your education, learn the 4 Phases and 7 Keys and apply them THEN in about five-ten years you'll witness the difference." At the time I didn't really want to hear that about the five year thing, but I took him for his word and dug in. What he said was true! I am simply amazed with and very grateful for the fruits I am now seeing. Thanks Shanon for encouraging and inspiring me! I'm looking forward to hearing your keynote.
