One of the “most amazing” gifts at Christmas, turned out to be this personalized super hero cape for Son #5. It is compliments of pipandbean.com on Facebook and Etsy. When your name begins with a “Q”, the pickings for personalized things are fairly slim. I had to chuckle, because my older boys all felt that they could have used a gift like this themselves, regardless of their ages! In fact, they were a bit disappointed. I must say, Pip and Bean’s craftsmanship is beautiful, inspiring, and um…I may just need the “chick version” myself. I’m indeed considering it, so be very afraid. I’m sure the boys are. They do offer adult options, and the color combinations are endless! Their story is also inspiring and the wit? Stellar. Head on over and see how many groups are embracing their culture. There are even photos of a swim team wearing them! I confess that it warmed my heart to realize hero capes would have been well received all around. I think deep down inside, every one of us desires to be a hero to someone; even if it has been communicated over and over again that we already are!
An additional highlight was the gift of these “darling, clever, and oh-so-fun finger lights” on the part of our dear just-like-family friend, Vicki. She went on and on while the younger boys turned the lights off and on. Imagine that rather awkward moment when the older boys, coming upon this scene, squashed the excitement by uttering the statement, “Um, Auntie Vicki, these are used at Raves.” Why yes, she’s an ER director, nurse extraordinaire, and apparently, ever-so-slightly naive as to what is going on at the “other end” before the patient makes it to her! No worries! Son #5 is seen here proving that one man’s poison, is certainly another man’s pleasure; as he boldly declared, “They match my cape and compliment my image.” Yep! Sometimes, you simply need to LIGHTen up and have some fun!
Had any lately?
Over here, we’re pretty much on a 24/7, 365 dose!

Teri – that is so cute. And Nadia has some of those finger lights. I had no idea they were used at Raves. HA HA! Once I quit working in the restaurant industry I went right out of the loop of what party animals were up too.
