John Adams wrote:
“The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America.
I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival.
It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty.
It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations,
from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more.”
So his prediction was off by a couple of days; but his description of the celebrations couldn’t have been more accurate!
I hope that as you celebrated the anniversary of our country’s independence with family and friends…
you paused to remember the incredible vision that a small group of individuals had…
the sacrifices that they and their families made attaining that vision…
and the sacrifices that continue to be made today on our behalf…
in order to maintain our freedom.
May we each do our part to perpetuate it…
and may it ring down through generations to come!
Happy Belated 4th of July!
I hope you had a great one.

What a way to celebrate; all the way down to your toes!! We celebrated yesterday in the most traditional of ways, bbq, fireworks, friends and family; but also by watching the “John Adams” series from HBO. If you haven’t seen it; it is worth the watch!

Looks like my comment didn’t come through, which I entered on my phone, dang it! Don’t remember what I said, but I do recall that your picture makes, even me, want to get a pedicure.
